SL Sucks?
At the moment Second Life is having severe problems. Several of the bugs I encountered the last couple of days has a workaround though. So here we go:
Ruthed
To get out of a ruthed state go into appearance mode. This will often solve the problem. If this doesn't work a relog might do the trick. If this doesn't work either then make a great snapshot of it and post it here :)
Your avatar is all grey or displays 'Image Missing' or your clothes wont rez
Alt+shift+ctrl d gets you the debug mode menus. After you got that go alt+ctrl+r to rebake your avatars textures. If this doesn’t do it, try relogging into another sim. If this still doesn’t do the trick, well...
Black/grey/image missing eyes or skin is black/skin is blue and red in squares/your avatar is invisible
The above workaround may sometimes do the trick, but most often it isn't enough, and a relog is needed. Try to log in at another location, preferably on the mainland, as it will sometimes do the trick. Speciality bugs should be snapped and posted as above.
Friends online not working
Use the friends online list on the second life website (unless its not working either)
Linden dollars shows as ‘loading’
I have heard of this bug getting solved by receiving 1L from a friend, but it never worked for me.
System skirts rezzes for a second then poofs... hehehe
This happens in windligt, but I experienced it in the regular viewer as well. The work around provided by Dorrie Bellman goes like this: "try going into appearance in the regular viewer, move the skirt slider up and down a few times till it disappears from appearance. It should appear on you then."
Inventory is missing (regular)
Clear your cache proper: Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Application Data\Second Life and delete the contents of the Cache folder. (If you cannot see the files or folders: 1. Select Tools > Options in Windows Explorer. 2. Click the View tab. 3. Select Show Hidden Files and Folders. 4. Click OK.)

An "angel" sent me this solution today. It worked for me this first time I tried it. I have been getting the "Missing from Database" messages for four weeks. Tried all The Labs solutions to no avail. This one form the "angel" worked for me. Not guaranteed, but worth a try, right! Go for it! Wooohooo!
"If you realize that you have missing inventory, follow the steps below as soon as possible.
1. If you do not yet have it installed, install the latest Beta Client.

2. Login to the Beta Grid and find a quiet place where no one will annoy you while you are trying to solve a problem.
DO NOT REZ ANYTHING WHILE ON THE BETA GRID. GO INTO BUSY MODE IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT ACCEPT ITEMS, DO NOT DELETE ITEMS, DO NOT PASS OR RENAME ITEMS.
3. Open your inventory, type in a search term (I used Tree) and allow your inventory to populate.
4. Got your goods back? Awesome! Quit the Beta client, login to the Main Grid and do the same thing. Once you have retrieved your items on the Main Grid and your inventory has fully populated, clear cache, logout and see cache'ing as you ...
5. Log back into the Main Grid, recheck inventory, smile a lot, raise Hell as usual.
This technique has been proven to work more than half the time so it may save your hide. Please bear in mind that you should only expect positive results if you attempt this workaround as soon as possible upon discovery of your missing items. I am not guaranteeing that you will be able to recover your items but having at least a chance at doing so is much better than no chance at all. I hope this helps some of the residents that fall victim to this issue."

Objects wont attach/detach
Objects wont rezz
Objects wont rezz and disappears
Gesture missing from database
Friends shows as Hippos and waiting
Group IM’s not working
Group names shows as (???)
TP’s fails
TP’s doubles and you crash
TP’s makes you crash
Doubled, tripled or quadrupled IM’s (according to Ann Otoole this also effects money transfers, so don’t make any if you encounter this bug)
Vendors don’t deliver but your money is gone
Search isn’t working
Map isn’t working
Snapping pictures isn’t working
Textures on objects gets swapped to screenshots from your PC
Bugreporting isn't working
JIRA (the place to post bugs to get them solved also called the public issue tracker) isn’t working
Loggin in isn’t working
Communication between LL and SL's users isn't working
Second Life isn’t working

So why aren't these on the front page of Linden Lab's Knowledge Base system?? :-)
Note that the retrieval of your lost inventory through logging in to the Beta Grid will only work if you have never logged to it before (most people haven't, so this will work for most people). If you did, you'll retrieve all inventory up to the last time you logged to the Beta Grid and/or when LL did a "snapshot" of your inventory, whatever happened later. The worst case scenario: you get your inventory back to a point in time one month before the last time the Beta Grid was "reset". It's still better than nothing!

i've noticed that the 'frd's online' doesnt work much on d website either,
however if i click on 'show frds photos' it shows up a list. sumtimes if i refresh the webpage a couple of times it seems to work well 2 :P
